The Argo Logo

AESTHETIC IDENTITY

COLLECTIVE VISUAL STYLE FOR THE ARGO NETWORK

The Argo's visual identity reflects its origins: a decommissioned, retro-fitted SolGov freighter turned safe house and community hub. We reject sterile, corporate tech-blues and harsh whites, embracing warm, lived-in tones, Soviet/Constructivist geometry, and the deep, rusted atmosphere of the outer rim.

These colors and fonts are used across our services to provide a unified design language, with a focus on comfort for long-form reading and roleplay.

Primary Hull Palette

Deep Void
#0C080A
Our primary background color. A heavy, but warm espresso-black that replaces standard stark grays. It represents the quiet, deep space outside the Argo's viewports.
Bulkhead Surface
#170F13
Used for panels, cards, and UI elements. This dark, burgundy-tinted charcoal provides subtle elevation above the background without causing eye strain.
Argo Rose
#BF3465
Our core accent, pulled directly from the ship's line art in the logo. It serves as a vibrant, defiant contrast to the dark hull, used for links, buttons, and active states.

Typography Palette

Starlight Sand
#F2E3D5
Our primary text color. Rather than using harsh, pure white, we use this warm, sandy off-white, to mimic the look of vintage printed manuals and reduce reading fatigue.
Weathered Sand
#A69587
Used for muted text, borders, and secondary UI elements. It represents the worn, utilitarian nature of the old ship's internal signage.

System & Status Indicators

For our dashboards (like Instatus) and matrix user-states, we use muted, industrial tones rather than standard traffic-light colors.

Vintage Olive
#6C8D75
Operational / Success. A faded military olive.
Brassy Amber
#C49A45
Degraded / Warning. A muted, retro gold/brass.
Rusted Terracotta
#C26747
Partial Outage. An earthy rust-orange.
Constructivist Red
#CC2929
Critical / Major Outage. A stark, classic Soviet flag red. Stark contrast to the softer Argo Rose.

Typography

Our type system is built from various typefaces, with the Constructivist and Soviet space program influences carrying through, whilst still prioritizing readability.

We want to make a statement, that people can still read.

RussoArgo — Display Titles
THE ARGO / АРГО

A custom variant of Russo One with extended Cyrillic support. Used exclusively for page titles and the ship's name. Its geometric, blocky letterforms evoke Soviet-era propaganda signage and Constructivist poster design, with our variant softening some of the harsher aspects to represent the step away from Cygni groups that the Argo has taken recently.

Korolev Medium — Section Headings
■ Communications & Access / Связь и доступ

Named after Sergei Korolev, chief architect of the Soviet space program. A clean, condensed sans-serif used for all section headings (H2, H3). Uppercase presentation with tracked-out letter-spacing, for a utilitarian, industrial feel throughout navigation and documentation. Korolev does not include Cyrillic glyphs; Oswald is loaded as a fallback, providing a similar condensed geometric sans-serif with full Cyrillic coverage that closely matches Korolev's industrial character.

Barlow Light 300 — Body Text

Welcome to The Argo. We are an independent, democratic roleplaying community born from the SS13/14 community. In-universe, we are a decommissioned SolGov freighter turned civilian habitat and safe house. We reside in the Tau Ceti star system—a bustling, populated area of space where many of our residents commute to work aboard various space stations.

Добро пожаловать на Арго. Мы — независимое, демократическое ролевое сообщество, зародившееся в комьюнити SS13/14. По лору, мы — списанный грузовой корабль SolGov, переоборудованный в жилой комплекс и убежище.

A grotesk sans-serif from the same geometric lineage as the rest of our type stack. The light weight provides a thin, airy feel to pair against our dark backgrounds. Barlow does not include Cyrillic glyphs; Inter is loaded as a fallback, providing a neutral grotesk with comprehensive Cyrillic coverage and matching weight granularity.

Monaspace Krypton — Monospace / Code
@bea:theargo.space // #main:theargo.space
const uplink = await fetch('/stargo/whep');
fn establish_connection() -> Result<Stream, Error> {

Part of GitHub Next's Monaspace superfamily. Krypton's mechanical, highly geometric letterforms is intended to feel like reading from a ship's diagnostic terminal. It features Texture Healing which dynamically adjusts glyph widths to even out monospace density, and supports code ligature sets covering operators across a wide range of programming languages.
